I am so excited that I will be making my Joe's Pub debut singing back-up for Chester Gregory and Lindsay Mendez during the 8th Annual New York City Christmas - a benefit for ASTEP (Artists Striving to End Poverty). It'll be a great concert for a great cause, featuring Sierra Boggess, Derek Klena, Constantine Maroulis and more!
Well, it has happened. I have moved to New York City to pursue a career in acting in the Big Apple. It's nerve-wracking and exciting all in one. I cannot wait to see what awaits me on this next step!
Even more exciting news!

2015 has been a watershed year for me, and I feel so honored that all the hard work (by everyone involved) is being recognized. 2016 is rife with uncertainty, but also exciting possibilities. I cannot wait to see what awaits us in the new year!
Well this was a wonderful surprise! First Stage Milwaukee's production of Big Fish was named one of Milwaukee's Top Ten Shows of 2015 by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. I feel honored to call Milwaukee my second artistic home, even more so to be involved in such a beautiful production. In what seemed to be an exemplary theatrical season in Milwaukee, I am so glad our little show with the big imagination was singled out of the bunch.

Nate is super thrilled to announce that he will be returning to the Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire to play Otto in their limited engagement production of Spring Awakening!
From the press release: "The 2007 musical, adapted by Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik from the 1906 play by German dramatist Frank Wedekind, depicts sexually awakening, 19th-century German teenagers doomed by the prudishness of the adults around them. "

On Sunday October 18th, I closed the world premiere musical October Sky at the Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire. This show was undeniably special to me. If you had told me last year that I would be leading a brand new musical, performing it eight times a week for two months, I would not have believed you. But here I am, having done it. I did it. And it has made me a better actor, a more committed performer, and a stronger person. I had my struggles, my doubts, but I knew I could rely on the whole team to make it through: The warm and human book by Aaron Thielen and the soaring music and lyrics of Michael Mahler. The supportive direction from Rachel Rockwell who pushed and challenged me to tell this story honestly and truthfully. The townsfolk of our on-stage Coalwood. The most generous on-stage mentor and supporter - Johanna McKenzie Miller as Miss Riley. The best on-stage parents a boy could ask for – David Hess and Susan Moniz. And finally, the Rocket Boys – Alex Weisman, Ben Barker and Patrick Rooney – I love you all to the ends of the earth and back. Thank you to Chris Herzberger, Terry James and everyone at the Marriott Theatre for letting me be a part of this production. I will treasure this show for the rest of my life.
(Oh, and I've added a few quotes from reviews on my Press Page!)

Nate is excited to announce that he will be starring in the world premiere musical October Sky at the Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire. He has been involved with developmental readings of the piece for over a year and is thrilled to get to soon be telling this story in front of an audience! With a moving book by Aaron Theilen and an amazing score by Michael Mahler, October Sky tells the story of Homer Hickam, the teenage son of a Coalwood, West Virginia coal miner, a young man determined not to end up like generations before him. "This rich and emotional story is for anyone who ever dreamed of something better and reached for the stars." The cast includes an impressive array of Chicago talent led by Jeff Award-winner Rachel Rockwell.

Rehearsals start in a few weeks, so expect more updates to come!
Clearly I need to be better at updating this thing... This past May Nate played the role of Will Bloom in First Stage Milwaukee's production of Big Fish. It was an incredible experience getting to work at the theatre that shaped his childhood, but this time as an adult actor! The production, directed by the amazing Jeff Whiting, garnered a slew of extremely positive reviews - "warm and wonderful" (OnMilwaukee.com), and "a production that nobody in Milwaukee who cares about theater can afford to miss" (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel) with Around the Town Chicago signaling Nate out for his "grounded" acting and "superlative" vocals. Production Photos coming soon!
Hello lovely people! I just uploaded some videos from a cabaret I took part in this past January - I Don't Remember You: Broadway's Cult Classics vol. II directed by Christopher Pazdernik with musical direction by Michael Kaish. I have uploaded my two solos - "Stranger" from Big Fish and "Goodbye" from Catch Me if You Can. Check 'em here!
All joking aside, I am super proud to have been involved in Griffin Theatre's production of Titanic. I had the pleasure of assisting director Scott Weinstein on this magnificent production, filled with some of the most talented and wonderful collaborators I've had the pleasure of working with since starting my career. It's a good one, and so many fancy people agree! Read all the raves here:

If you are in town, you MUST see this production. It's a beautiful telling of an epic story in an intimate space.
Hello all! Just wanted to let you know I added some new video from things that I've been doing the past couple of months. First, I've added two duets I sang as part of a cabaret of composer Peter Sloterdyk's music entitled Join Me on May 16, 2014. And I've also included our teaser trailer for Godspell at the Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire, where I have playing "Nate" (and understudying Jesus) since June 4th (closing August 10th). Check them out here!
Every year around Easter time, I always listen to my parents' original cast recording of Godspell on vinyl. I am planning on doing the same thing this year, but this time, I will be following along in the score because:
I'm going to be appearing in the Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire's production of Godspell!
We are doing the 2012 revival version and I be playing the part of George (Herb, I believe, in the original) and understudying Jesus.
I'm also excited to announce that I will be joining the Actors Equity Association! It's a big step and I am both excited and scared, but it feels like the right thing to do at this time. We start rehearsals in three weeks, and I cannot wait to get started.
Happy Easter, everybody!
Hi friends! It's been a while since I've been able to update this thing (I was having some issues getting my domain to link with the site, but I got that fixed)! Just wanted to let you know what I have been up to the past couple of months.
This February, I was lucky to be involved in the Lyric Opera of Chicago's production of The Barber of Seville - a new production directed by Tony Award-winning director Rob Ashford, starring Nathan Gunn, Isabel Leonard and Alek Shrader. I was a featured supernumerary and played one of Bartolo's servants. Here is a funny picture from the Lyric Opera website and the video trailer. I will appear in the condensed version of the opera for children and families, The Family Barber on Saturday, March 22nd.
I am also understudying The Hypocrite's daring production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Into the Woods directed by Geoff Button. I am understudying the roles of Jack (of beanstalk fame) and the Steward. The show runs until April 6 at the Mercury Theatre. Show info can be found here.
And one last thing! I am also understudying the role of Tom in the Marriott Theatre for Young Audience's production of Schoolhouse Rock Live! directed by one of the creator's of the show, George Keating! The production runs Thursday-Sunday mornings through May 4th. More show info can be found here.
There is some exciting news that I'll be announcing soon... so check for updates often!
